iPhone 5s Catches Fire And Explodes

Okay so it seems a little unbelievable but this story was reported by 9to5Mac and includes images of this so called event too. There have been reports that the iPhone 5s suffers from battery issues but for it to explode and catch fire is something we haven't heard before. According to the story being reported, the device wasn't charging when it exploded, nor had any unofficial accessories been connected. Yet it seems that the device's battery started inflating on its own so much so that it pushed through the top part of the phone whereby enabling the owner to pull off the display and disassemble the phone. This of course was all in vain as the iPhone still caught fire and combusted into flamed, leaving behind the burnt remains. The pictures included on 9to5Mac show quite a graphic image but we here find this all a little hard to believe. The iPhone 5s owner's account of what happened just doesn't add up and as you will see from all the comments, many people believe it is utterly rubbish. The way the iPhone is built makes this all seem a little too farfetched. How could it just explode without any tampering. Even the images that were provided suggest that there was some sort of tampering going. Take a look at the images for yourself and see what you think. When you're done be sure to read through the comments too as there is some interesting stuff in there too.

This same information can be used to try and extrapolate usage data for specific devices across specific demographics. This is how we have been able to get the information that we are reporting on today. Seemingly the iPhone 5c is preferred over the iPhone 5s by women. The data from Facebook was taken by Benedict Evans and he came to the conclusion that the iPhone 5s is the most bought iPhone. This doesn't surprise us considering anyone with a graph to hand has been stating the same thing over the past few months. It got more interesting though when Evans went deeper into the stats. According to him, the iPhone 5c is more popular among women. In fact, twice as many women own iPhone 5c handsets than men. The reason for this is the fact that the iPhone 5c comes in five different color options. The iPhone 5c had previously been claim to something of a flop by some, but with over two million handsets sold in the last three months, it is safe to say that the colorful smartphone isn't really doing as bad as was made out. The iPhone 5c is the cheaper of the two models that were released earlier this year and as mentioned above, it does come in five great color options. Perhaps this is what is encouraging the female population to consider this model over the iPhone 5s, which costs more and only comes in the standard colors that we are used to having the iPhone in. Whatever the reason, women seem to prefer the color choices and we're sure that in Apple's eyes, it really doesn't matter once the device is selling. What do you think? Do you prefer the iPhone 5s or the cheaper, more colorful, iPhone 5c?

It was stated last week that the iPhone 5s was shipping within 1 to 3 days for the UK and many other markets across the world. In the US, Apple has achieved 100% stock rate in all of its Retail Stores, with each variant of the iPhone 5s available in each store. The iPhone 5s made its debut 10 weeks ago and after a couple of week it was nearly impossible to get your hands on one of these devices. Things have started to pick up and shipping times are almost back to normal. With Touch ID, a new Gold color option and a 64-bit A7 processor, there are plenty of reasons to upgrade from the older generation models, and with first weekend sales rendering it the most successful smartphone launch of all time, Apple looks to have its most popular product to date. There are of course, still some features lacking in the iPhone range, and although things like NFC don't seem all that justifiable given how infrequently it is used by those who do have it on their smartphones, there have been plenty of shouts for a larger display. Apple stuck faithfully to their 3.5 inch display with the iPhone 5s but it appears that a lot of iPhone owners would love a larger panel. The in-store availability of these iOS devices also covers the unlocked, unsubsidized models, which allow users to pay full price for the handset and take advantage of the flexibility of choosing their own tariff, as well as being able to use the device worldwide if they travel a lot too. With the holiday season just around the corner, now is definitely the best time to pick up an iPhone 5s, and with each model available, you won't even have to wait too long if you order online.

Users can use it to unlock their devices without having to type in their passcode but according to a recent patent filing by Apple, this could be about to get so much better. This patent has been filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization and it details a Touch ID like implementation that also brings trackpad functionality into play. This will potentially allow users to navigate around without having to touch the display. This would, on first viewing, seem counterproductive, but when you consider certain situations such as fine tuning a point on a map, it could actually make sense. When the fingerprint sensor was first heard of there were skeptics, but it has now established itself as a very useful feature and it looks as though Apple is ready to step things up a notch. The touch ID patent also makes examples of how a user could use certain gestures like revolving or twisting to prompt certain actions. Touch ID offers an extra dimension beyond the display and if something similar to this recent filing were to come into play, iOS as a whole could be greatly enhanced. The patent also toys with the idea of integrating Touch ID into a device's display, although this is something we were hearing about in the run up to the iPhone 5S, theoretically the technology could be designated to any particular region behind the display, taking the fingerprint sensing capability beyond the home button and into third-party apps. We have high hopes that this feature will make its way into the next generation of iPads, after being exclusive to the iPhone 5s so far.

The in-depth iPhone tips that are offered will even benefit the most experienced users. Rather than acting as a full and thorough online user guide, the website seems to be focusing more on allowing users to get the most out of their device when using the new iOS 7 firmware. These published tips only concentrate on the latest hardware too and you won't find any information on the iPhone 5 which has been dropped from Apple's lineup. If you do however own a new iPhone 5s or 5C you will find this information really useful. Apple also has a page dedicated to the iPhone 4s. All of the guides use the same format and are extremely visual. The layout is broken down into very specific sections such as Photography, Swipe Gestures, Siri, Mail and Music. Apple has also included a small paragraph of text with each entry that gives users a little nugget of information about the section being discussed. These new pages are live on the Apple website and all you have to do is head to apple.com and choose your specific page: iphone-5s/tips, iphone-5c/tips or iphone-4s/tips to find out everything you need to know.

These models are now on sale in 11 countries around the world. The launch of the more expensive flagship iPhone 5s is more significant as it is the first smartphone to have a fingerprint sensor and a 64 bit processor. This new device is also the first iPhone to ever ship in three colors. The iPhone 5C which is the budget iPhone is also available and if you haven't already made up your mind which one is for you let us help you out. It was rumored that the iPhone 5s would have a 128GB storage option but this hasn't turned out to be the case. You can by an iPhone 5s with 16GB, 34GB and 64GB of storage. Which one you choose will depend on your usage habits and how many different tasks you rely on your phone to do. We could still see a 128GB model come on stream at a later date. The iPhone 5S is the first to ship in 3 colors and the new Gold color has been quite a talking point. Accompanying this new champagne-like color is a space gray option which is similar to the black iPhone 5 and there is also the Silver model. The color you choose is a matter of personal choice. When deciding between an unlocked model or a contract model there are advantages and disadvantages to both. If you sign up for a contract your get your iPhone for a lot cheaper. The problem with this is that most contracts run for 18 months to two years and with a new iPhone coming on stream every year you might not want to do this. The cost of buying an unlocked iPhone is of course much dearer and if you don't want to spend several hundreds of dollars then a contract could be the option for you. The iPhone 5c has also been released although it hasn't been very well received. Pre-orders for iPhone tend to be quite high and they are only available for a day or two. That being said, the iPhone 5c can still be pre-ordered and this is now tens days after the announcement so it doesn't look very good for this model. The iPhone 5c is the cheaper, budget iPhone and it comes in a different shell, has a slightly bumped battery life and one or two other tweaks. If you are looking for a good smartphone that is capable of completing almost any task for general users then the iPhone 5c could be a great choice. It might not have the aluminum chasis but it still looks great and is available in five vibrant colors. The choice is yours, will you choose the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c?

The iPhone 4S is still there along with the new iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. To help you with your buying decision, Apple has created a comparison chart of the three models that you can view on their website. One of the key factors when choosing which iPhone to buy is going to be the price. The iPhone 5S starts at $199 subsidized by a two year contract and this runs all the way up to $399 for those who are looking for the high end 64GB model. The iPhone 5C is priced between $99 and $199 which is considerably different and the iPhone 4S costs nothing on contract. With pricing out of the way, it will boil down to internals and specifications. If you are looking for LTE you will have to choose between the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 5C as the iPhone 4S doesn't support this. LTE is going to future proof your device and purchasing a 4G LTE compliant model is definitely advised. The iPhone 4S comes with a very capable A5 chip whilst the iPhone 5C comes with the A6 chip. The A7 chip is a big step up and this is available in the iPhone 5S. Animations will be smoother and every day tasks will be much quicker. If cameras are your thing, you should take note that the cameras have gotten progressively stronger since the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5C has the same camera as the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S features True Tone flash which brings more realistic lighting in dark situations and is generally better than the iPhone 5. It is strange to see the iPhone 5 being removed from existence and is now basically obsolete. What's left for you to decide now is what iPhone you choose to buy. Again the full specs comparison table is available on the Apple website and worth taking a look at before you make your decision.

For the first time ever this iPhone announcement will see not one but two handsets being announced. So what are we expecting, let's take a look at what the rumors have told us so far. The iPhone 5S is set to be the new top of the line iPhone and the iPhone 5C is going to be a low cost, budget iPhone. The iPhone 5S is going to have a faster processor with the A7 chip going into it. The home button is also going to feature a fingerprint sensor. This will mean that users are able to unlock their device without having to enter a PIN code. The iPhone 5S is also set to launch with a dual-LED flash that can be found on other highend smartphones as well as a 12 megapixel sensor with better low light performance. The iPhone 5S will largely resemble the iPhone 5 and the main exception is the possibility of a new champagne/gold color. The iPhone 5S is expected to have storage options all the way up to 128GB. The iPhone 5C is the budget iPhone and we are assuming that the C stands for color. This iPhone will come in a plastic shell and it is suspected that the innards will be a mix of the iPhone 5 and 4S. This device will also come with an 8 megapixel camera. The iPhone 5C with its plastic shell will come in a range of colors that resemble an iPod with its bright and shiny chassis. The color options are white, yellow, blue/cyan, red and green. It is rumored that the price for the iPhone 5C will be between $300 and $400 for the unlocked version. With less than a week to go, we can't wait to hear the official announcement and see how many of the rumors were in fact true.

There has been a lot of evidence to back this up including leaded shell photos. More images of the shell of the device have emerged directly from Apple's supply chain and as suspected, it is based heavily on the white and silver variant of the iPhone 5, with most of the silver area in gold instead. Just as the iPhone 4 went to 4S, the iPhone 5S is expected to remain virtually the same, with the main exception being the gold color option. The images that were published by Sonny Dickson show off the back of the champagne device and whilst many consumers seem divided in their opinion, we will have to wait and see how this new color fairs in the market. As well are being made available in three colors, the iPhone 5S will have an improved processor, a 12 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button. It is also looking more likely that there will be a 128GB storage option for those who need more space. The unveiling for the new iPhone 5S is expected to be the 10th of September and this will also be the date for the iPhone 5C, a cheaper handset sporting a polycarbonate finish. This budget iPhone is set to release in a range of colors and is set to help Apple expand their reach in developing markets. We can't wait to see how the dual launch goes and we will of course be keeping everyone updated with any information we receive prior to and during the actual event.

This news comes from WSJ's AllThingsD which has a great track record of accurately reporting such events. According to ATD, Apple is expected to unveil its next iPhone at a special event on September 10th. The launch comes at an important time for Apple, which continues to make a lot of money from the iPhone but has seen its global market share dip amid a growing wave of lower-cost Android devices as well as an intense battle with archrival Samsung. During this upcoming event, it is expected that Apple will unveil a spec-bumped version of the iPhone 5 which is rumored to be the iPhone 5S. This will reportedly feature a 12 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, higher resolution screen, fingerprint sensor, faster processor and more. Also planned during this event is the unveiling of a budget friendly model being dubbed the iPhone 5C which is being developed for the lower-end market. The final public version of iOS 7 will also likely make its debut at this event. AllThingsD's report doesn't mention anything about the iPads which is anything means that Apple will probably hold a separate event in October or November to release the next generation iPads. It is all coming together and it looks like we have some great releases to look forward to in the coming months.

This year, however, things are a little different as we are about to see the release of two iPhones. One of these, the iPhone 5C, is a low cost or budget iPhone. Vietnamese website Tinhte, who are fairly accurate when it comes to legitimate leaks of Apple products, have gotten their hands on mockups of both the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S and have released images of both of these devices side by side. We had a look at these images and we can see the comparisons between the two handsets. While both of these smartphones are designed by the Cupertino company, they are built to serve very different purposes and the materials used and general build quality appear to differ greatly. By adding the iPhone 5 to this comparison, we can see the clear similarities between what are likely to be Apple's three main devices later on this year. The headphone jack is situated along the bottom, while each also includes the new lightning dock connector in the center flanked by different speaker holes. In terms of design, the iPhone 5S is expected to be similar to the current iPhone 5 and these images seem to confirm this. We are expecting a few hardware tweaks including a faster new processor and perhaps a 12 megapixel camera. The iPhone 5C thanks to its polycarbonate finish does look decidedly cheaper than the two higher end models, but that is not to say it doesn't still offer a stylish package. It still looks very cool and should be a big hit with budget conscious consumers. With iOS 7 now at beta 5, it won't be long before we see these devices at their official launch. Stay tuned to our blog and we will keep you updated as more information arrives.

In the latest reports about this new iPhone 5S, it has emerged that Apple could also release this device in a champagne color. The seventh generation iPhone is just like the six releases before it and a guarded secret. This of course hasn't stopped various alleged details from being release around the internet. We first heard of this champagne color rumor back in June and with the black and white line up having grown a little tiresome with some people a little drop of champagne could be just the thing Apple needs to liven things up again. The champagne color rumor has come to light again because a bunch of apparent components for the iPhone 5S were leaked which included the volume buttons and silent/vibrate toggle. The low cost iPhone which is being dubbed the iPhone 5C is due to release in a multitude of colors right from the word go and it would be great to see owners of the flagship model also being offer a little variety. With the cheaper iPhone 5C being offered in five different colors and the iPhone 5S in three different colors, consumers will be spoiled for choice. With big changes coming in iOS 7 and new colors being added to the iPhone line up, it would see that Apple is in a period of transition and we are sure that consumers will be delighted with the new range of choice they are being offered.

Today, however we have come across some high qualithy images of what we are being told are components of the next generation Apple iPhone. These images really don't tell us too much because they are of hardware components but it is still nice to get a clearer view of the parts. They don't appear to be much different from the components that were used in the iPhone 5 and we would like to think that Apple has some relatively sizeable alterations in mind for this upcoming handset. Recent reports have suggested that the next Apple iPhone is going to be called the iPhone 6 and we have already seen the Vodafone UK's internal inventory system was leaked displaying this. Whether this is to be the case of not remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, whatever name Apple decides to go for, the outcome of the device will be identical. All the fuss surrounding the new iOS 7 has taken attention away from the next generation iPhone which is reportedly going to be released in September which is a year after the iPhone 5 was released. It is also expected that Apple will also launch a budget iPhone to help them compete with those markets too but this is a rumor that has been going for quite some time now and so far we haven't seen any evidence of it. For now all we can do is wait for the official announcement at WWDC in June and until then, we will continue to bring you news and updates of interest.

The rumors are now forming on the new iPhone which many feel will be called the iPhone 5S. With Samsung announcing their Galaxy S4 that will definitely pack a punch, we could see many people debating whether or not to snap up this latest Android device. Many however will wait to see what Apple has in store with their new iPhone. The latest reports suggest that Apple plans to release a new iPhone shortly after this year's WWDC. The new iPhone will no doubt be an improved version of the current iPhone 5 and if the reports turn out to be true, we will see the new iPhone 5S being shipped by the end of July 2013. It really won't come as much of a surprise if Apple decides to hit the market with a relatively minor tweaked model and although the aesthetics and external facade of the device will remain consistent with what we already have, reports are suggesting that improvements may come in the form of a higher performing camera and an upgraded processor. The iPhone 5 currently ships with an 8 mega pixel iSight camera so we could see the iPhone 5S ship with 12 mega pixels minimum. These rumors and the information we have received comes courtesy of DigiTime and their proposed release dates and improvements do fit in with the other rumors that have been circulating. As with all rumors, we do have to wait for the official announcement from Apple and those attending this year's WWDC may actually witness the original introduction of the new iPhone. As always, we will keep you updated with any information we receive.

The latest reports say that the iPhone 5S will hit assembly lines in March and the device itself will launch in June or July of this year. Peter Misek of Jefferies has stated that two iPhone prototypes are currently being tested by Apple. Speaking more on the two alleged prototypes, one is thought to be the iPhone 5S whilst the other is thought to be a low cost iPhone. This is not the first time we have heard this rumor and you may recall that it has already been quashed by Phil Schiller but doesn't look to be going away. It is worth noting that Apple has gone back on its word a number of times so we really don't know whether or not they will decide to launch a cheaper iPhone. They have alreadey brought out a cheaper iPad in the form of the iPad mini but this has disappointed a lot of people because it was missing key features such as the retina display and it was still considered to be a lot more expensive than similar spec tablets that are currently on the market. The introduction of a low cost iPhone is said to be a pawn in Apple's plan to woo emerging markets such as China. Misek believes that this device will be similar to the iPad mini and it will be a low cost iPhone with a polycarbonate case and a 4 inch non retina display with no LTE. The iPhone 5S on the other hand will have all the Apple upgrades which will include a faster processor, improved general performance and a couple of Siri level implementations to keep users happy until the iPhone 6 arrives. The report does state that the two devices could be set for release in June or July but as with all rumors and reports nothing can be fully believed until Apple release the information themselves. I guess like everything else, we just have to wait and see.

This is now being dubbed the iPhone 5S and reports are suggesting that it will launch in June of this year. Reports are also suggesting that a line of cheaper iPhones are also on the way. If you regularly read our blog then you will know that speculation has been mounting over the past couple of weeks about the possible release date, aesthetics and technical specifications for the next generation iPhone. New reports are now suggesting that Apple could be planning on releasing a new iPhone by June of this year and this may also see high end and low end model releases. There have been a number of reports already that have suggested that Apple might be planning on offering the new iPhone in a range of colors like they have with the fifth generation iPod touch. The report on the potential of a June release for the next iPhone comes courtesy of Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity who also believes the hype surrounding a high end and lower end iPhone to cater for all the different markets. Releasing a new iPhone in June would actually fall back in line with Apple's traditional release schedule for the iPhone and would also fit perfectly in with the WWDC in San Francisco. The thinking behind the lower end model iPhone is that Apple wants to tap into the budget market consumers who normally prefer to buy pre-paid type contracts. According to Walkley a lower specification device would be very successful in China, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Brian White from Topeka Capital has suggested that the low end device will be for price conscious consumers and could actually fall back onto the 3G technology rather than being LTE compatible. He also suggested that we could see this model having the smaller 3.5 inch display too. Of course, as is always the case, this is all just speculation at the moment and no concrete evidence has been provided. As we move further into the new year we will see more information emerging and as always we will keep you up to date with everything we hear.
