This update came from the Pangu team and it is untethered. We have already given you step by step instructions on how to do this so if you haven't already, you will find the information in our recent posts. If you are already jailbroken using Pangu8, make sure that you update the latest untether package so that you get all the bug fixes that have been implemented. Jailbreaking has always been reallly popular and every time Apple brings out a new firmware there is a rush to get a jailbreak so that iOS device owners can update to the latest firmware without losing their beloved Cydia. Apple released iOS 8 back in September and there were so many people looking to jailbreak their iPhones iPads and iPod Touches on the latest firmware. We were spoilt with the release of iOS 7 becauce Evad3rs came up with a jailbreak fairly quickly before Pangu arrived with a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 and up. When iOS 8 was released however, we were back to square one and Apple followed their initial iOS 8.0 release with 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 before dropping iOS 8.1 in October so that support for Apple Pay was made available. Pangu really did surprise up by releasing Pangu iOS 8 � iOS 8.1 jailbreak for iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5s, iPad Air 2 and all other devices. The initial release was in Chinese and for Windows only. It also didn't include Cydia but Saurik soon updated Cydia for iOS 8 but you have to manually install it. A week after this Pangu version 1.1.0 was released in English with Cydia bundled with it. Our previous post included step by step instruction on jailbreaking your iOS device using Pangu and we are delighted to be able to report that this jailbreak has gone down a treat with the community. In order for this to work properly, Cydia author Saurik had to make some impromptu fixes to the Cydia Substrate. The new Pangu Untether 0.2 was rolled out yesterday and a number for additional bugs have been addressed in a new version of Substrate. If you have jailbroken your idevice on iOS 8 using Pangu, then this is a very necessary update as it fixes issues with booting, syncing, and other major challenges that the jailbreak community faced over the past week. A lot of jailbreakers presume that achieving an untethered jailbreak is as easy as simply installing Cydia on your device and then going ahead and installing tweaks. This is so not the case, as we have seen with the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 / 8.1. There are a number of components that have to operate together and Cydia Substrate is fundamental to the entire process. Pangu's roll out of iOS 8 � 8.1.x Untether 0.2 yesterday exposed a number of new bugs in Cydia Substrate and Saurik and his team has really quickly come through with an update. The Cydia Substrate 0.9.5014 fixes a few bugs reported on iOS 8 with 0.9.5013, including �apps do not install�, �iTunes does not sync�, and �icons are gone�. This issue sometimes led to devices being unable to boot without disabling Substrate. Cydia Substrate 0.9.5014 is the main update even though Saurik has followed up with version 0.9.5015 with a fix for OpenSSH. What this all means is that the new Pangu Untether and Cydia Substrate should work together now and it is recommended that anyone that has already jailbroken their iOS 8 device should go ahead and install both as quickly as possible. The Untether 0.2 package is available through the Pangu app, while Cydia Substrate 0.9.5015 is available on the Cydia/Telesphoreo repository. You can of course simply launch Cydia, tap on Changes and then upgrade. The issue with freezing on the reboot of a device that is lock using a Passcode or Touch ID has yet to be rectified, so you will need to disable this feature for the time being. Pangu8 really is shaping up to be a great jailbreak tool even with a couple of kinks still needing to be ironed out.

This Chinese team came out with the impromptu jailbreak for iOS 7.1.x and now they have once again come to the rescue with their solution for iOS 8.x. Pangu8 works with iOS 8 all the way through to the latest iOS 8.1 and in this post we will show you how to jailbreak your device using this tool. We do have to point out this this tool isn't completely refined so it might not be successful. Also it doesn't install Cydia so we have information on how to do this also. Pangu doesn't install Cydia by default and while Saurik has updated Cydia for iOS 8, you will have to install it manually until the Pangu team updates the tool with the Cydia installer. If SSHing is not something you enjoy, we recommend that you wait for the updated Pangu tool. Before you jailbreak you will need to turn off any lock screen passcode or Touch ID as well as Find My iPhone. You also need to make sure you have an iTunes restored version of iOS 8/8.1 installed on your device for the jailbreak to work. If you updated via OTA the jailbreak won't work. Make sure that you device is backed up too and you have iTunes 12.0.1 or later installed on your PC and running in the background while the jailbreak is taking place. The Pangu jailbreak supports the following devices; iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad (all models), and the iPod touch 5. The first thing you need to do to jailbreak iOS 8/8.1 untethered using Pangu is to download Pangu for Windows. Next right click on the Pangu icon and click run as administrator. With Panug running, connect your iDevice to your PC using USB. Click on the checkbox that says PP to uncheck it. Next you have to press the big blue button in the centre of the display to begin the jailbreak process. Your device will reboot a couple of times so be patient. Once the jailbreak has been completed, you will see a new Pangu icon on your device's home screen. This confirms that your jailbreak was successful. Installing Cydia After Jailbreaking With Pangu The first thing you need to do is backup the content on your device. Next you will need to download the latest Cydia.deb file as well as the cydia-lproj file. Once you have the .deb files you will need to SFTP the file to your device. To do this, Mac users should use Cyberduck, while windows users are advised to use WinSCP. Next you need to go to Settings > Wi-Fi on your devicfe and find the hotspot that both your device and PC/Mac are connected to. Next to the connection's details hit the �i� and make note of the IP address. Next you are going to use your designated SFTP client, key in the IP address as well �root� for username and �alpine� for the password. Once the file browser appears, drop the .deb files into the root folder of your device. After this, things can get a little tricky because you will be firing in commands that you may not be familiar with, so you need to make sure that you take your time and watch carefully if you are not used to doing this. To start an SSH command line session on Windows you need to hit Crtl + T. Then you need to run the command: dpkg -i cydia-lproj_1.1.12_iphoneos-arm.deb Now run this command: dpkg -i cydia_1.1.13_iphoneos-arm.deb The next thing to do is reboot your device and that should be it. You should now have Cydia installed on your jailbroken device. Remember if this all seems a little too much, all you have to do is wait until Pangu is updated to include the Cydia installers.
