If you have just recently grabbed iOS 8 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you may have encountered some wi-fi related issues. In fact, it is clear from the Apple Support forums, that a lot of users have been affected by this and a number of other problems. Until Apple makes the necessary bug fixes there isn't that much that you can do. The roll-out of iOS 8 has passed with very little incident and has been well received. It hasn't however completely avoided the headlines and iPhone 4s users have been strongly advised against updating. There have been several key functionality related bugs tarnishing the fluidity of iOS 8 on the iPhone 4s and now it seems that there are some wi-fi issues being reported by many users. What is happening, is that wi-fi seems to struggle with basic connectivity and dropped connections are occurring on a wide range of iOS running products. A number of affected users have contacted Apple Support about this and the general message seems to be to do a restore. One user found that while restoring to new remedied the problems, they soon returned when a backup was applied, suggesting that the problem lies within iOS 8's compatibility with backups rather than the software itself. Another issue that has been causing problems once again is the battery drain and it does appear that Apple's new iOS 8 has a few kinks that still need to be ironed out. Hopefully this will happen very quickly and if you haven't already updated to the latest software, you might want to hold off until all the little bugs have been resolved. This is being billed as one of the biggest announcements in Apple's history and we know there is a lot to look forward to today. Below is a look at what is in store. 4.7-inch iPhone 6 The iPhone 6 is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases from Apple since the very first iPhone hit our stores back in 2007. The new iPhone 6 has been given a design overhaul similar to the iPad Air, and will also feature the A8 processor, improved camera and Touch ID and of course, a larger display. All the iPhone 6 leaks and reports we have featured over the last couple of months also suggest a repositioned power button and a new offering in the 128GB storage configuration. It is anticipated that the color options will remain the same and the front of the display is expected to be laden in sapphire glass, a clearer, more robust material that should hopefully reduce the probability of scratches. The device itself is expected to measure just 7mm thick. We will also see improvements to other hardware as well as NFC which will be used to allow mobile payments. 5.5-inch iPhone Plus / iPhone 6L Along with the 4.7 inch iPhone 6, we are also going to see the launch of the 5.5 option which is being called the iPhone Plus. Anyone who has wanted Apple to compete with the likes of Samsung's Galaxy Note is going to be delighted with this model. This 5.5 inch iPhone 6L/Plus is going to offer stronger internal features when compared with the 4.7 model and this will include a larger battery and a possibly better processor. It will also have an iPad like landscape mode. Aside from this, the larger iPhone 6 should be more or less the same in terms of colors, major features and general performance. IOS 8 iOS 8 was first announced back at WWDC, and offers a bunch of new features. As well as HealthKit and HomeKit, third party keyboards will allow users to customize the typing experience. It is expected that Apple will announce the GM build for developers tomorrow with a public release in a week's time. iWatch Apple's iWatch will most certainly be packed with a myriad of sensors as it integrates with the new HealthKit infrastructure, and from what we have heard, will also be coated in sapphire glass. Reports have suggested that it will be a squarish device with rounded corners, and will arrive in 1.3 inch and 1.5 inch size options to suit the styles of men and women. Reports have also suggested that there will be 8GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. It isn't due to hit the market until next year though so we will have to wait for that. Brand New �Tips� App The Tips app, which was supposed to be part of the initial iOS 8 beta has finally made it into beta 4. The new Tips app is perfect for new users and allows them to find their way around iOS 8. It includes some useful tips that will help all users become pros. New tips coming directly from Apple are going to be added every week so this is going to be a very useful app. Completely Redesigned Control CenterThe Control Center has been given a makeover with iOS 8 beta 4 and it now ties in very well with the overall look and feel of iOS 8. Bug Reporter App RemovedThe Bug Reporter app has been removed. This did allow users to send bug and crash reports to Apple. New HomeKit Icon The HomeKit icon has been given a very small makeover. It's nothing major just a little tweaking. New Display and Brightness Setting Small changes have been made to how brightness is altered from the Settings app with the inclusion of a new �Display & Brightness� setting. This section also includes the option to alter text size, or turn bold text on or off. Separate Expiry Options For Audio / Video MessagesUnder Settings > Messages, beta 4 has a new option that allows you set expiry time for video and audio messages separately. This is great if you like to hold on to certain messages of videos and should prove very useful. New Handoff & Suggested Apps FeatureA new option Handoff & Suggested Apps has been added under Settings > General. This will let you turn on or off the ability to show apps that are relevant to your location on the lock screen or the app switcher. It includes suggestions from apps that are installed on your device, or from the App store. New �Show In App Switcher� Option This is going to be very welcome and it is something that users have been asking for for quite some time. You can now customize whether or not you want to see your recent or favorite phone contacts in the app switcher. To access the setting all you have to do is go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then tap on Show in App Switcher under the Contacts headings. New Swipe Options Setting In MailUnder the same Mail, Contacts, Calendars setting in iOS 8 beta 4, there�s a new feature called Swipe Options under the Mail heading. This is going to let you customize what different swipe gestures do in the Native Mail App. Notification Center And Control Center Options Added In AssistiveTouch If you use the accessibility features, you are going to love this change. AssistiveTouch will now allow you to access the Notification Center or Control Center with a simple tap of a button. You can access AssistiveTouch in Settings > General > Accessibility and then tapping on AssistiveTouch under the Physical & Motor heading. Below is a list of the new features that we have come across and some brief information on each. App Analytics In iOS 8 Beta 3, users now have the option of sharing app analytics data to the developer of the app. This should allow developers to improve their apps and make changes that enhance the overall experience for the end user. Tweaked �Clear� Button In Notification Center The �Clear� button in the Notification Center, which lets you dismiss notifications for a particular app, has been given a nice touch up. It no longer looks out of place and you may not even notice the slight tweak, but it is there. Apart from this, you can now dismiss individual notifications with the new �X� button. Enable/Disable Handoff Feature Users can now turn off the much documented Handoff feature. We don�t know why you would want to do this, but we are assuming that people do to conserve battery life. Anyway now you can disable it if you want to. New iCloud Drive Upgrade Popup At WWDC iCloud Drive was announced. This is a great way to expand your device�s storage capabilities into the cloud. Once you install iOS 8, you will be welcomed with a popup that asks you if you want to make the jump to iCloud Drive. You can of course continue to use the tried and tested iCloud Documents and Data feature. Automatically Keep Photos & Videos In Messages There is a new Automatically Keep feature in the Messages settings that allows you to automatically store sent and received photos and videos. This is a handy feature if you don�t want to miss out on incoming media from your contacts. New Wallpapers The newly released iOS 8 Beta 3 comes with new wallpapers for both the iPhone and the iPad. We are hoping that these will get even better when iOS 8 goes live later this year. Enable/Disable QuickType Keyboard If you don�t like Apple�s new QuickType Keyboard, you can now turn off the suggestions using a simple toggle in Settings > General > Keyboards. Time Duration for Recently Deleted Photos With iOS 8, when you delete your photos, they are put into a Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app. A new prompt that is available in this folder shows the time remaining before your photos are deleted forever. Minor UI Changes in Weather App This is the last change we have spotted in iOS 8 Beta 3. The Weather app has been given a slight cosmetic change in the way it displays the weather information. Apple pushed out some significant changes with this new release, but there are some really great lesser-known alterations and additions to this latest version so get ready to sink your teeth into them. Rich Text Support In Notes App The notes app has always been very simple but now there is rich text editing included. All you have to do is select the text you have written and you will be presented with options such as Bold, Italics, Underline, etc. You can also add photos in the Notes app too which is great. Camera and Video App Changes A lot of third party apps have self timers and now it is native to the Camera app via a small button at the top of the interface. Tapping on this button will allow you to set a timer for 3 and 10 seconds. The Camera App has also been given some new features and you can now finely tune exposure and focus. All you have to do is tap and hold to lock your focus onto a particular subject and a simple slide gesture up or down will tweak the exposure. If you enjoy taking videos, you can now tweak the settings for your very own time-lapse videos. All you have to do is swipe all the way left when you are about to record a clip and the interface will pop up allowing you to change settings. Request Desktop Site In Safari Mobile Safari now allows you to load desktop versions of sites so you can now switch to the full site easily. It is one of the things we have been waiting for a long time to see and are delighted that it has eventually arrived. Auto-Delete Messages If you spend all your time texting, this feature is for you. It allows you to stipulate the length of time for which a conversation is stored. This is idea if you find yourself removing messages manually all the time. You can set the threshold to 30 days, one year, or forever and this is done through Settings > Messages > Store Messages. There are a couple of other new features that we have stumbled upon and there are probably many more to be discovered. It has been a big day for iOS and OS X and in this post we bring you a rundown of what has been announced and what you can expect to see in the next couple of days. Apple announced iOS 8 during the opening keynote and this new version comes with much the same interface as last year's iOS 7 but with a lot more to offer. First off there is Interactive Notifications, which means that users can now interact with notifications without having to open any app. Next up we have 3rd party keyboads. The new APIs let third party app developers build new system-wide keyboards for iOS. The popular Swype was shown during the keynote. Another feature is QuickType predictive typing which will now try and predict what you are trying to type and you can tap words to avoid having to type everything. The HealthKit/HomeKit is another feature and Apple has now given makers of health-related hardware as well as those behind home automation a way to tie into iOS via third party apps. This could see us being able to dim lights, lock doors and so much more with the touch of a button. Health-wise, Apple is already working with Nike and others to try and make iOS a hub for health tracking. Siri has also gotten an upgrade and now has Shazam integration. The big news here though is the hands-free invocation of Siri. A simple �Hey Siri� will kick it into gear so there is no need to press any buttons. Messages and Spotlight also got a facelift and the former now has in-line audio and video messages, location sharing and destructible messages. Spotlight can now search online as well as for stuff that is local to your device. OS X 10.10 � YosemiteAlso announced was OS X 10.10 � Yosemite and the features are pretty cool. You will need iOS 8 to take advantage of them but you will definitely be rewarded if you do. Continuity is where the magic really happens with Yosemite and iOS 8. When you have both installed, you'll have AirDrop that works across mobile and Mac, Instant Hotspot and Handoff. This means you will now be able to start an email on one device and then finish it on another. OS X 10.10 Yosemite has also been given a new flatter design that looks truly amazing. The messages app now has SMS messages relayed to it from an iPhone and that goes for calls too, so if someone rings you on your iPhone you will be able to answer it on your Mac. Like iOS 8, Yosemite will have third party widgets in Notification Center and the whole notification panel which has also had a redesign. The Mac now also has iOS's Today view which is home to appointments, reminders and the like. Mail and Safari have also been updated and we are sure you will find plenty more things to enjoy too.iCloud DriveThis is Apple's way of taking on Dropbox and you can think of it as a cross between the iCloud we are all used to and the iDisk that was around when MobileMe was. You'll be able to browser iCloud Drive as if it was a normal folder which his a real game changer. You also get 5GB of storage free, with more available for a price.There were some more announcements that were made and these were aimed at developers. It is safe to say that this has been a really busy WWDC event and there is a lot to digest. When iOS 7 was released, we saw Apple make some great improvements to the general functionality and the revamped user interface was a big talking point. Skeuomorphic elements were removed in favor of flatness throughout and most agree that this was a change for the better. With iOS 8, the focus seems to be on new apps. We aren't expecting any major changes to the interface. The Healthbook app is expected to be among the key features of iOS 8 and this will offer Apple a way into the $3 trillion health market. This app will be presented in a card-like interface much like Passbook and will cover everything from heart rate to blood sugar levels. It could also be integrated into Apple's rumored smartwatch too. The iTunes Radio was launched with iOS 7, but the service hasn't really taken off. To give iTunes Radio a sense of identity, Apple are creating a standalone iTunes Radio app for its streaming music service which should help it to compete with existing streamers. The Game Center is set to be removed even though it has generally been successful. Along with the process of adding and omitting key features, Apple will perform its usual housekeeping on some pre-existing elements of iOS. We can expect to see some enhancements to features like Notifications, Messages, Voice Memos and the newly introduced CarPlay. We will also see iOS 8 including a bunch of new cloud-based features that will promote seamless communication between Apple's range of devices. Large segments of both iOS and OS X will be tied into and based upon the cloud infrastructure as time goes on. Reports and leaked screenshots also suggest that a new dedicated Tips app will be presented and this will likely help users to get the most out of their device. We could also see Shazam-powered music identification in Siri which will allow users to process their requests through Siri rather than having to open the Shazam app. Integration with the iWatch is another thing that has been suggested although it has yet to be confirmed. The official announcement came last week and we now can't wait to see what will be uncovered from the 2nd of June. Adding to what we already know about iOS 8 and OS X 10.10, more information is emerging with regards to what Apple might have in store for this summer and beyond. According to a report over a 9to5Mac, the forthcoming version of iOS which we assume will be iOS 8, is currently being referred to under the codename Okemo. From what we've already learned so far about Okemo, we know that the Healthbook app will be one of the central pieces and while this feature may also integrate with the unconfirmed �iWatch� device, we will see Apple finally latch onto the lucrative health and wellbeing market. 9to5Mac's report also suggests that Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support will be added to the next iPhone and as such, the updated software will be duly configured to facilitate the new technology. VoLTE would certainly improve call quality and efficiency thanks to the robust and technologically advanced nature of the LTE networks, although given the T-Mobile is the only carrier with a fully operational VoLTE system in place, it will be interesting to see how Apple plays this. Another thing we have heard is that iOS 8 will be giving iTunes Radio a proper identity with its own standalone app. This move should help to promote and support a streaming service that hasn't really gotten off its feet since it rolled out with iOS 7. Maps, which has suffered since it's disastrous launch with iOS 6, is also in line for improvement, bringing a standard of functionality comparable to the systems offered by the likes of Google and Nokia. OS X, meanwhile will focus on design changes and given the flatter, cleaner look of iOS nowadays, we are expecting that the desktop software will follow in very much the same fashion. We will learn more from June 2nd when Apple will take to the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and we can't wait to see what they have in store.

It will commence the week beginning June 2nd and tickets will be drawn in the format of a lottery with developers able to apply from now until the 7th of April via the official WWDC site. After this date, tickets will be drawn randomly. WWDC tickets usually sell out in a matter of minutes and this strategy is so much fairer to all those looking to come along and see what announcements Apple has to make. The main topic of conversation for this event is undoubtedly iOS 8 which will be the next major update to Apple's mobile operating system. Last year iOS 7 brought us some of the most obvious visual changes since the iPhone's inception back in 2007 and it is widely reckoned that iOS 8 will offer a number of alterations to the general functionality as well as an abundance of new apps. Healthbook, is going to be Apple's first substantial effort to capitalize on the market for fitness and wellbeing related apps and as the name implies, it is expected to borrow its card like UI from Passbook which we first saw in 2012 with the arrival of iOS 6. Healthbook will have the ability to monitor everything from heart rate to calories burned and it looks like it is going to be more than just a token gesture to fitness fanatics and could actually serve as the marquee feature of the iOS 8 update. Along with iOS 8, Apple will also showcase the next update to OS X and although we have no idea yest what it is going to be called, it is widely suspected that the flatter, cleaner iOS 7 interface is going to influence its design. Since OS X Mountain Lion, we have witnessed the gradual iOS-ification of Apple's desktop operating system and given their need for uniformity across the board, it is anticipated that the skeuomorphic elements of Mavericks will make way for an aesthetic in tune with Jony Ive's software design visions. WWDC 2014 promises a great deal and if you want to put your name in the hat and get your hands on a ticket than all you have to do is head over the official WWDC site.
