It has been a big day for iOS and OS X and in this post we bring you a rundown of what has been announced and what you can expect to see in the next couple of days. Apple announced iOS 8 during the opening keynote and this new version comes with much the same interface as last year's iOS 7 but with a lot more to offer. First off there is Interactive Notifications, which means that users can now interact with notifications without having to open any app. Next up we have 3rd party keyboads. The new APIs let third party app developers build new system-wide keyboards for iOS. The popular Swype was shown during the keynote. Another feature is QuickType predictive typing which will now try and predict what you are trying to type and you can tap words to avoid having to type everything. The HealthKit/HomeKit is another feature and Apple has now given makers of health-related hardware as well as those behind home automation a way to tie into iOS via third party apps. This could see us being able to dim lights, lock doors and so much more with the touch of a button. Health-wise, Apple is already working with Nike and others to try and make iOS a hub for health tracking. Siri has also gotten an upgrade and now has Shazam integration. The big news here though is the hands-free invocation of Siri. A simple �Hey Siri� will kick it into gear so there is no need to press any buttons. Messages and Spotlight also got a facelift and the former now has in-line audio and video messages, location sharing and destructible messages. Spotlight can now search online as well as for stuff that is local to your device. OS X 10.10 � YosemiteAlso announced was OS X 10.10 � Yosemite and the features are pretty cool. You will need iOS 8 to take advantage of them but you will definitely be rewarded if you do. Continuity is where the magic really happens with Yosemite and iOS 8. When you have both installed, you'll have AirDrop that works across mobile and Mac, Instant Hotspot and Handoff. This means you will now be able to start an email on one device and then finish it on another. OS X 10.10 Yosemite has also been given a new flatter design that looks truly amazing. The messages app now has SMS messages relayed to it from an iPhone and that goes for calls too, so if someone rings you on your iPhone you will be able to answer it on your Mac. Like iOS 8, Yosemite will have third party widgets in Notification Center and the whole notification panel which has also had a redesign. The Mac now also has iOS's Today view which is home to appointments, reminders and the like. Mail and Safari have also been updated and we are sure you will find plenty more things to enjoy too.iCloud DriveThis is Apple's way of taking on Dropbox and you can think of it as a cross between the iCloud we are all used to and the iDisk that was around when MobileMe was. You'll be able to browser iCloud Drive as if it was a normal folder which his a real game changer. You also get 5GB of storage free, with more available for a price.There were some more announcements that were made and these were aimed at developers. It is safe to say that this has been a really busy WWDC event and there is a lot to digest. When iOS 7 was released, we saw Apple make some great improvements to the general functionality and the revamped user interface was a big talking point. Skeuomorphic elements were removed in favor of flatness throughout and most agree that this was a change for the better. With iOS 8, the focus seems to be on new apps. We aren't expecting any major changes to the interface. The Healthbook app is expected to be among the key features of iOS 8 and this will offer Apple a way into the $3 trillion health market. This app will be presented in a card-like interface much like Passbook and will cover everything from heart rate to blood sugar levels. It could also be integrated into Apple's rumored smartwatch too. The iTunes Radio was launched with iOS 7, but the service hasn't really taken off. To give iTunes Radio a sense of identity, Apple are creating a standalone iTunes Radio app for its streaming music service which should help it to compete with existing streamers. The Game Center is set to be removed even though it has generally been successful. Along with the process of adding and omitting key features, Apple will perform its usual housekeeping on some pre-existing elements of iOS. We can expect to see some enhancements to features like Notifications, Messages, Voice Memos and the newly introduced CarPlay. We will also see iOS 8 including a bunch of new cloud-based features that will promote seamless communication between Apple's range of devices. Large segments of both iOS and OS X will be tied into and based upon the cloud infrastructure as time goes on. Reports and leaked screenshots also suggest that a new dedicated Tips app will be presented and this will likely help users to get the most out of their device. We could also see Shazam-powered music identification in Siri which will allow users to process their requests through Siri rather than having to open the Shazam app. Integration with the iWatch is another thing that has been suggested although it has yet to be confirmed. IOS 8 is expected to be announced at WWDC 2014 in June with the roll-out sometime in the Fall. After WWDC we will have a much better idea of what to expect from iOS 8.

The official announcement came last week and we now can't wait to see what will be uncovered from the 2nd of June. Adding to what we already know about iOS 8 and OS X 10.10, more information is emerging with regards to what Apple might have in store for this summer and beyond. According to a report over a 9to5Mac, the forthcoming version of iOS which we assume will be iOS 8, is currently being referred to under the codename Okemo. From what we've already learned so far about Okemo, we know that the Healthbook app will be one of the central pieces and while this feature may also integrate with the unconfirmed �iWatch� device, we will see Apple finally latch onto the lucrative health and wellbeing market. 9to5Mac's report also suggests that Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support will be added to the next iPhone and as such, the updated software will be duly configured to facilitate the new technology. VoLTE would certainly improve call quality and efficiency thanks to the robust and technologically advanced nature of the LTE networks, although given the T-Mobile is the only carrier with a fully operational VoLTE system in place, it will be interesting to see how Apple plays this. Another thing we have heard is that iOS 8 will be giving iTunes Radio a proper identity with its own standalone app. This move should help to promote and support a streaming service that hasn't really gotten off its feet since it rolled out with iOS 7. Maps, which has suffered since it's disastrous launch with iOS 6, is also in line for improvement, bringing a standard of functionality comparable to the systems offered by the likes of Google and Nokia. OS X, meanwhile will focus on design changes and given the flatter, cleaner look of iOS nowadays, we are expecting that the desktop software will follow in very much the same fashion. We will learn more from June 2nd when Apple will take to the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and we can't wait to see what they have in store.

It will commence the week beginning June 2nd and tickets will be drawn in the format of a lottery with developers able to apply from now until the 7th of April via the official WWDC site. After this date, tickets will be drawn randomly. WWDC tickets usually sell out in a matter of minutes and this strategy is so much fairer to all those looking to come along and see what announcements Apple has to make. The main topic of conversation for this event is undoubtedly iOS 8 which will be the next major update to Apple's mobile operating system. Last year iOS 7 brought us some of the most obvious visual changes since the iPhone's inception back in 2007 and it is widely reckoned that iOS 8 will offer a number of alterations to the general functionality as well as an abundance of new apps. Healthbook, is going to be Apple's first substantial effort to capitalize on the market for fitness and wellbeing related apps and as the name implies, it is expected to borrow its card like UI from Passbook which we first saw in 2012 with the arrival of iOS 6. Healthbook will have the ability to monitor everything from heart rate to calories burned and it looks like it is going to be more than just a token gesture to fitness fanatics and could actually serve as the marquee feature of the iOS 8 update. Along with iOS 8, Apple will also showcase the next update to OS X and although we have no idea yest what it is going to be called, it is widely suspected that the flatter, cleaner iOS 7 interface is going to influence its design. Since OS X Mountain Lion, we have witnessed the gradual iOS-ification of Apple's desktop operating system and given their need for uniformity across the board, it is anticipated that the skeuomorphic elements of Mavericks will make way for an aesthetic in tune with Jony Ive's software design visions. WWDC 2014 promises a great deal and if you want to put your name in the hat and get your hands on a ticket than all you have to do is head over the official WWDC site.
