The latest iOS 7 beta SDK release is no different. This time though a keen eyed developed has spotted that Apple is testing out an enhanced iPad mini and this evidence was discovered deep inside a hidden file in the SDK. This file lists all the Apple mobile devices that are capable of supporting the latest firmware version which is iOS 7. Additional informaiton found within the iOS 7 firmware seems to backup the existence of three new iPad mini devices and the model numbers given are iPad2,8, iPad2,9 and iPad2,10. For those who prefer internal talk, these are referenced as J75, J76 and J77. The iPad2,8 model is on teh s518950x platform which refers to the current generation A6 processor that can be found in the iPhone 5. The existence of a minature iPad with a bumped up processor spec will definitely bring a smile to plenty of faces. It is great news that Apple is testion out iPad mini models with faster processing capabilities but the internal files also bring with them some sad news and that is the lack of any reference to higher resolution graphical assesets which indicates that none of these iPad models have retina display. An additional set of files has to be added to apps for retina capable devices all of which are sppended with @2x to allow iOS to differentiate between the different image sizes. These references are missing from the exposed information. It is worth pointing out, that Apple is consistently testing out different specification of their publicly available product and very few of these actually make it into the hands of the end user. We did have reports early this year that the retina iPad mini wouldn't be made available until 2014 and today's report seems to confirm this.

It is small, light, powerful and of course backed by the App Store. There is one problem though and that is the lack of retina display. We have all be anxiously awaiting this addition but according to a new report, it seems that the retina display iPad mini won't be ready until 2014. When the iPad mini first launched it got away without having the retina disply that is a feature of all other Apple devices but with a new model expected, everyone does expect that the iPad mini 2 will have this feature. The iPad mini 2 is expected in the next couple of months and one report is now claiming that is may not actually feature retina display at least not for this year. It seems that a shortage of retina displays of the required size is set to push Apple's retina iPad mini back to 2014. This is disappointing but it is not the first time that we have heard rumors that the iPad mini might not get retina display in its 2nd generation. We are still hoping that this report is wrong but as always we have to wait for official confirmation before we take anything as truth. Another interesting thing that we have learned is that Apple plans to ship two version of the iPad mini when retina display does become available and consumers will have the option of puchasing a model with or without retina display. We don't know how this will work but it does suggest that Apple might just be struggling to meet its current price point when including the retina panel which is a concern for people who don't want to spend too much. The iPad mini has been a massive success for Apple and with the next generation model guaranteed to sell well, adding retina display should really seal the deal.

With the iPad 4 we also saw the introduction of the iPad mini and again the general response to this was mixed with many people pointing out that the lack of retina display and the high cost were flaws. A new report suggests that Apple plans to bring out another upgrade as early as March this year. A new iPad and a new iPad mini with retina display is expected. Normally we find that the analysts tend to be on target with the predictions and forecasts in the initial stages of the year and so far in 2013 we have seen a number of these. Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets is said to have been in talks with industry sources and claims that the fifth generation iPad and a second generation iPad mini will be released in March. This news that new devices are to arrive just 20 weeks after the initial launch is likely to meet with a lot of anger from those who have already purchased the devices. From a technical point of view, the decision to remove a lot of bulk from the iPad should be met favorably by consumers. When it comes to the iPad mini there is talk of upgraded components including an upgraded processor but in his report, White makes no mention of retina display. As with all reports and rumors, we do have to wait for the official word from Apple before we know for certain what is going to happen. This event will be held in the California Theatre, San Jose. It is expected that Apple is going to announce their iPad Mini, a 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display, a line up of iMacs and a brand new Mac mini. We have been giving you all the reports and theories so far surrounding Apple�s iPad Mini and while many may have thought this was just a rumor, Apple have now announced a special event. Usually Apple�s keynotes are held at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco but this event is going to be held at the California Theatre in San Jose and this is the first official indication that the new iPad Mini will indeed be launching this month. The iPad mini is expected to have a 7.85 inch display and we have also learned that there could be as many as twelve different configurations such as a Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G LTE offering in each of the 8, 16, 32 and 64GB storage capacities. There have over the past couple of months been various leaks of internal parts as well as a bunch of mock-ups which have given up plenty to speculate about. Apple are very good at covering things up though so don�t be surprised if the new smaller iPad doesn�t look anything like what we may have presumed. When it comes to pricing, there have been speculations that it will cost between $249 and $299. This has yet to be confirmed and we will have to wait for the official announcement from Apple to see if the rumors were right. Apple will be holding a special event next Tuesday and everyone here is really excited about the prospect of the iPad mini finally making an appearance. A new report has stated that Apple will be holding this event on the 23rd of October which means we have less than two weeks to go. This report comes from John Paczkowski from AllThingsD and he cites that Apple will be holding a special media event later this month and a smaller iPad will be revealed. Paczkowski�s sources have always been reliable in the past so we are sure that this is the real deal too. There was no further information revealed except that it is believed that this event will be held at Town Hall Auditorium on the company�s own campus in Cupertino, CA instead of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Based on rumors, reports and the general speculation doing the rounds, the iPad Mini which most people are calling it is essentially going to be a smaller version of the iPad 2. It will most likely feature a dual-core A5 chip, have low resolution dual cameras and a 1024 x 768 display. The size of the display is what is going to be different and it suggested that the display size is going to be 7.85 inches. At this size, the iPad mini will be in direct competition with the likes of the Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD. Apple does at present sell a cheaper $399 iPad 2 but this is still at least $200 above the price of these other tablets and therefore the new iPad Mini will have to retail around $249 to see strong sales results. The launch of the new iPad Mini will see Apple following trends for the very first time instead of setting trends which is what they are usually known for. We still have to wait for the official launch on the 23rd October to see what we are really going to get with the new iPad Mini.

It is being suggested that the new 7.85 inch iPad Mini will hit the market with a maximum price tag of $250 in a bid to compete directly with the Nexus 7 tablet from Google and Asus as well as Amazon�s new range of Kindle Fire devices. There has always been confusion as to why Apple would want to produce an iPad Mini when the iPad does so well and many think it is really just to satisfy the mid range market. According to reports, Apple are hoping to ship more than ten million of these new devices during the holiday season. The standard 9.7 inch iPad ships with either a Wi-Fi only option or a Wi-Fi plus cellular option which is something that we might not see with the iPad Mini. According to a report from the Guardian, the new iPad Mini will come as a Wi-Fi only device meaning that users won�t have the option of using a SIM card to connect to a cellular network for data on the move. In addition to the new iPad Mini, we are also expecting Apple to ship an updated version of the current third generation iPad that bring 4G support for the United Kingdom�s first 4G LTE network that will be operational at the end of this month. If Apple is planning on holding a media event during October, invitations could be going out in the next day or two. This may or may not be the case however as Macotakara have suggested on their website that one of Apple�s official equipment manufactures has had to halt production of the new iPad Mini because of a last minute change in the design.
