Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 helps to improve iPhone 3GS 06.15.00 baseband downgrade. This new release adds the DFU IPSW method into the tool. For those who don�t know, Redsn0w now allows iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users sporting the iPad�s 06.15.00 baseband to downgrade back to 05.13.04 baseband with a fully working unlock and GPS. All the users who were unable to get this downgrade to work last time should now be able to use the latest version of Redsn0w to do this provided that their iPhone qualifies for the downgrade. The latest version of Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 covers three different types of NOR chips in the iPhone 3G and 3GS and the instructions on how to downgrade the baseband are similar to the last release. A new DFU IPSW method has also been added to this release of Redsn0w. This method helps those who have an iPhone with either a broken or intermittent home button to enter DFU mode with a IPSW file. This new feature can be accessed in Redsn0w by going to Extras -> Even More -> DFU IPW. MuscleNerd stated that they have received a lot of feedback from users who couldn�t launch a DFU ramdisk because their iPhone home/power buttons were broken or intermittent and therefore we have added a new Redsn0w feature that allows users to enter DFU mode as long as their phone is healthy enough to restore to a normal everyday IPSW. Users do not have to be jailbroken already to use this method. Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 is now available for download for Windows and for Mac users.

The main unlocking solution that people use is Ultrasn0w because it is very simple to use. Currently Ultrasn0w can unlock iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 4/3GS with support for five basebands. This is fantastic news for anyone who has been stuck with 06.15.00 baseband on their iPhone 3G or 3GS. Apple have released iOS 5.1.1 and all the Dev Teams have been working hard to update their jailbreak tools so that the latest iteration of iOS can be recognized. The iPhone Dev Team have stated via MuscleNerd on Twitter that the latest version of Redsn0w is going to include downgrade capabilities for the A5 devices. There are many people who will have updated their iOS to the new firmware release but those who rely on an unlock or jailbreak will be holding off until they are certain they are going to retain the features that they have become accustomed to. Having already enabled A4 devices to downgrade their firmware, the Redsn0w tool is now being brought up to speed to allow those with A5 devices such as the iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the 3rd generation iPad to downgrade their software to an earlier version. The only thing users must have is their SHSH blobs and APTicket stored. This new version of Redsn0w has not yet been released and until the iPhone Dev Team release further information the ETA is still up in the air. Given their track record though, we don�t expect to be waiting too long before the updated Redsn0w tool is made available. Apple does however work pretty hard to ensure that users cannot downgrade their devices but thanks to the Dev Team and the Redsn0w tool you can now restore to an older version of iOS 5 in a matter of minutes. If you are looking to downgrade all you have to do is follow this tutorial provided that you have already saved the SHSH+APTicket for the firmware version that you wish to downgrade to. If you haven�t go this you will not be able to follow this tutorial. The first thing that you have to do is download the latest version of the Redsn0w tool. You then need to backup your device�s contents via iTunes or iCloud. Once completed you then need to launch Redsn0w and connect your device to your PC or Mac via USB. Click on Extras, then click on SHSH blobs, then stitch. Select the IPSW to which you want to downgrade to and then point Redsn0w to the .plist file containing the SHSH blobs and the APTicket if you have it stored locally. If you have these files stored in Cydia, the option will be greyed out but will become available to you when the device is in DFU mode. The next step is to put your device into DFU mode, click on Cydia if your files are not stored locally and Redsn0w will save the new stitched IPSW file. Next you need to place your device into Pwned DFU mode. From the main screen in Redsn0w you need to click on Extras then Pwned DFU and follow the on screen instructions. You should then point your hosts file towards Cydia�s servers in order to spoof your device into thinking Apple has authorized the process. If you are a Windows users all you have to do is go to Windows > System 32 > Drivers > etc. On OS X go to etc. Next using any text editor you have to add the following line to the end of the hosts file: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com The last thing you need to do is launch iTunes. You need to hold down the left SHIFT key if you use windows or the left ALT key if you use Mac and click on the restore button. Select the IPSW file and restore. It won�t take long to complete and you will be presented with your downgraded firmware. Please note, that this downgrade is only possible on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G and below. This will not work on any of the A5+ devices which are the iPad 2, new iPad or iPhone 4S.

As many iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners know, these A5 processer devices have so far not been able to perform firmware downgrades. When Apple releases a new version of iOS they stop signing the older firmware and this means that any official restores result in the user installing the latest official iOS version onto their device. For normal users this isn�t a problem but if you are an iDevice owner who wants to jailbreak their device this is a nightmare because if they accidently upgrade their firmware they have to wait until the Dev-Teams come up with a working jailbreak for the new iOS version. On older devices users can already downgrade their firmware once they have the relevant SHSH blobs saved. In the majority of cases Cydia will automatically capture any available blobs and update the users� Cydia app with the blobs that have been saved. The iPad 2 has been around since March 2011 and the iPhone 4S since October 2011 but there hasn�t been a way for users to downgrade these A5 powered devices. Developer and hacker iH8sn0w now claims to have found a loophole in Apple�s APTicket system that has allowed him to successfully downgrade his iPad 2 from iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1. He also believes that this loophole will allow firmware downgrades on Apple�s new iPad running on the new A5X processors. iH8sn0w shared the news on his twitter account and it basically means that owners of the iPad 2, the new iPad and the iPhone 4S can now downgrade their devices to any firmware they choose.
